Tribute to Mixael de Kock

The entire family of SA Guide-Dogs for the Blind mourns the sudden and untimely passing of dear Mixael de Kock a true friend, philanthropist and visionary (in spite of his impaired vision). He selflessly coordinated the exceptional Diamond Jubilee Gala Concert for the Association less than three months ago. The benefit evening was his way of celebrating his 60th birthday coinciding with the Association’s 60th Jubilee. Mixael single handedly coordinated the production and persuaded all the artists to give of their time and talents resulting in a resounding financial success.

His selflessness, passion, commitment and generosity will be cherished and revered for years to come. He exemplified a true volunteer, never expecting anything in return, demonstrating how one can achieve so much and touch the lives of so many through tireless efforts and commitment. He was a unique human being who will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to his family and close friends.

Thank you so much for this beautiful tribute to my dear friend and neighbour, Mixael. I have quoted you in my tribute which I posted on his Facebook page, as well as on the Greenside Residents’ Association’s and the Environment and Dog Group of Emmarentia’s FB pages .

Please would you email me your contact details, as I am sure those who knew Mix would like to stay informed about his memorial service, which will probably take place next Saturday, 7th September, at 2.00pm.

    Kind Regards

Mixael, or Mix as we’ve known him, was an exeptional person in every sense of the word. And now, almost 2 years after his passing, I read this beautiful eulogy for the first time and wept, because my friend would have wept. Thank you. And Mixael kowns that you appreciated what he has done. That is all that counts. Mariette
