S A Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind hosted their third Gala Dinner in recognition of World Sight Day on Saturday, 14 October at Kelvin Grove. 476 Charitable Trust partnered with the Association as the headline sponsor for the second year.
The dogs that have been sponsored through this event over the three years made a grand entrance with a special entrance by Premier Helen Zille and puppy, Milan, who she sponsored at the dinner last year.
Danilo Acquisto, Master of Ceremonies, set off the evening by appealing to guests to assist the Association with funding for an additional four Guide Dogs for Cape Town. One of the highlights of the evening was the introduction and naming ceremony of the puppy that the headline sponsor funded. A beautiful black male Labrador named Andy was presented to 476 Charitable Trust.
Guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal which was accompanied by the divine Miss Molly range of wines and bubbly from Môreson Wine Farm, wine sponsor for the event. Guests were treated to the beautiful sound of none other than Richard Stirton, winner of The Voice 2016.
There was an encore of applause when the final pledged amount was announced. The pledged support raised enough funds for eight Guide Dogs for the Cape Town region. S A Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is delighted to be able to continue providing Independence, Mobility and Companionship to people who are visually impaired.
