The SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind was one of several guests at the Presidential Induction Dinner of the Pretoria Jakaranda Lions Club on Saturday, 22 June 2013. The highlight of the evening was when outgoing President Etta van Rooyen handed the reins of the club to incoming President Joyce Wilcox for another exciting year ahead of serving their community.
The Wilcox family is no stranger to SAGA as Ellen Wilcox and her family are dedicated puppy raisers.
Some facts about the Pretoria Jakaranda Lions Club:
• The club was chartered 21 years ago by ladies for ladies only – so congratulations from all at SAGA with their milestone of serving their community for 21 years; and
• The club has been supporting our Association over the past years, and several guide and service dogs walk the streets of South Africa due to their generosity and dedication – a sincere thanks to Etta and all her club members with the presentation of yet another guide dog sponsorship to us on Saturday evening.

The “21” was formed by candles that were lit by the specific president for each of the 21 years – it was also the celebration of their 21st anniversary.
To President Joyce and ladies of the club: Keep up the good work that you are doing so diligently, and may you have a exciting and successful year of service ahead.
