Golf Day Glendower Golf Club

On Wednesday 23 November 2016, S A Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind held its Charity Golf Day at the prestigious Glendower Golf Club, home of the BMW S A Open Championship in January 2017.

The Golf Day kicked off with a shotgun start at 12h00 and all 88 enthusiastic players battled it off against each other. The format for the day was a fourball alliance with a mystery hole.

There were competitions lined up; the Longest Drive won by Werner Kruger with Yolandie Faver clenching the ladies title. We also had a Nearest to Pin competition which was won by Coenraad Theron, and the challenging Blindfold Competition, at the 17th hole which was managed by Sage Foundation volunteers, where players took a shot under blindfold, and surprisingly some made their best shots here.

Thank you to Time Freight and Marsh Africa who sponsored holes, providing nibbles and drinks to the golfers passing by.

After battling it off on the course all afternoon, our elite evening programme comprised of a great dinner, as well as a raffle draw and auction of items kindly donated by local companies and individuals.

Thank you so much to all our valued sponsors. Your contributions enabled us to put together a spectacular event, in a bid to raise the much needed funding to finance the training of working dogs.
