S A Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (GDA) hosted their Spark in the Dark Gala Dinner in recognition of World Sight Day on Saturday 14 October in the Ballroom at Montecasino. Montecasino partnered with GDA as the venue sponsor for the eleventh consecutive year.
Tarryn Louch set off the evening by walking through the guests singing before taking to the stage as our Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The energy was electric when Jade from Cahi Auctioneers took to the floor raising just over R 150,000 from 18 auction items.
Guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal which was accompanied by the divine Miss Molly range of wines and bubbly from Môreson Wine Farm, wine sponsor for the event. The evening was live with music by Jude Harpstar during starters and then the talented voice of none other than Vernon Barnard, a contestant who is visually impaired of The Voice 2016.
S A Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind is delighted to be able to continue providing Independence, Mobility and Companionship to people who are visually impaired. There was an encore of applause when the final pledged amount was announced.
Mike Page, GM of Montecasino, says, “We’re extremely proud to be the venue for the S A Guide-Dog Associations World Sight Day Ball, and honoured to be a sponsor for a cause that has such a major impact on people’s lives. At Montecasino our vision is to create great experiences – and guests to the ball were no exception.”
In addition to the venue sponsorship, Montecasino handed over a cheque for R100,000. “Our hope is that our support inspires other corporates to donate whatever is within their budget and means, and that collectively we can make a difference in the lives of the visually impaired,” says Page.
The Association looks forward to hosting its annual World Sight Gala Dinner on 6 October 2018
