Saturday, 20 May 2017, was a very exciting day in the life of Guide Dog Owner Hannelie Strydom and her faithful friend and companion, Jimmy. They were part of the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (GDA) delegation visiting the Helderkruin Lions Club.
Pieter van Niekerk, GDA Head Public Relations, enlightened the club members about GDA’s efforts to reach more people who are differently-abled. As a token of our appreciation a photo was presented to Lion President Sandra Erasmus of Guide Dog Reo. The club invested in Reo, as part of their second bronze working dog sponsorship. The club has recently sponsored with another Bronze level contribution, and they are anxiously following the progress of their latest pup which is still on the Puppy Raising scheme.
Thank you to Hannelie and Jimmy for joining us on the day – demonstrating to the Helderkruin Lions what a difference a Guide Dog brings in changing our lives forever.
Thanks to the club for their continued support entrusting GDA with the fruits of their hard work – and assisting us to giving our recipients a new leash on life!
