Events Co-ordinator

A vacancy has arisen within South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (GDA) for the position of full time Events Co-ordinator.

Responsible to:                Head Marketing

 

Key function:                    

  • To assist with all current and on-going tasks and responsibilities of the Marketing Department in order to achieve annual targets.
  • Total management responsibility of all events including planning, budget management, sponsorship and execution.
  • Management of all social media platforms, including sourcing and loading content as well as growing following.
  • Full responsibility of tasks as listed below.

 

Direct responsibilities

  • Idea generation for new income generating events.
  • Total responsibility of assigned events, including income and expenditure budgets.
  • Responsible for providing material for website and social media on all events.
  • Total management responsibility of all events including planning, budget management, sponsorship and execution.
  • Event specific fundraising for all allocated events.
  • Adhoc administrative support within the department.
  • Management of Expo teams and Volunteers at events.
  • Management of all social media platforms, including sourcing and loading content as well as growing following.

 

Essential qualities:

  • Passionate about the work of the Association.
  • Must have a high work ethic and be driven to achieve targets.
  • Must be prepared to give more than ‘nine to five’.
  • Must treat donors and volunteers in a warm friendly manner and be service orientated.
  • Empathy with people who are differently abled.
  • Must love dogs, and be happy to have them in your environment.
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking.

Qualifications/experience:

Must be able to communicate efficiently and write in English and Afrikaans.

Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle.

Must be well spoken, well-groomed and presentable.

Must have at least 2 years event management experience.

Social media management experience is an advantage.

Social media growth strategy experience on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is an advantage.

Experience in project management an advantage.

Must be computer literate with advanced MS Office skills.
