Cape Peninsula Marathon

The Cape Peninsula Marathon is an annual event of Celtic Harriers running club and organised by Top Events.  On Sunday 21 February 2016, over 6,000 runners once again took to the streets of Cape Town from Green Point to Simonstown.

S  A Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (GDA) is a nominated beneficiary of the Cape Peninsula Marathon for the second year in a row. Once again we assisted at a water station along the route. Peter Taylor, one of our puppy raisers, as well as learners from Rondebosch Boys High School assisted us at the station.

This race also serves as a qualifier to the Two Oceans Marathon so runners are very enthusiastic as they pound the streets and welcomed the refreshing sachets of water.

Thank you gentlemen for being a part of our water station and encouraging the runners along the way.

At the prize giving ceremony, Guide Dog owner, Jenny Pretorius and Kaine were handed a cheque of R10,000 for GDA to continue their sterling work.

This year we also had a presence at Sportsman’s warehouse on the Saturday preceding the race where runners registered and collected their race packs.

Thank you Celtic Harriers and Top Events.
