SA Guide Dogs train on average 55 to 60 guide dogs per annum inculding service and social dogs for the physically disabled. The costs to train a guide dog are increasing and SAGA only charge the blind recipients R5.00 per guide dog plus R100.00 for board and lodging here at the Glady's Evans Training Center when they recieve training with their new mobility aids.
We are reliant on the support of individuals, companies and service groups to donate funds in order for the association to continue our service offering to the blind and visually impaired that we have been serving in South Africa for over 53 years now.
You can make a difference and "sponsor" a guide dog for only R10000. Companies can rally staff support and generate internal fundraising drives to assist us in income generation. We will provide the sponsoring company a framed photo graph of the guide dog as well as invitations for management and staff to attend a graduation day at the training centre where they can witness this emotional and proud event. Companies can also sponsor a guide dog instead of buying customers and key supporters expensive gifts each year, this is a great way of showing your social responsibility! A company can nominate guide dogs as their beneficiary of their annual golf days. We are more than willing to attend these events and bring a guide dog or two along! We are open to dicussing your needs and share some of our ideas with you.
We welcome companies that are interested to contact SAGA fundraising on 011 705 3513/4 and speak to Pieter Van Niekerk or Noel Midlane to discuss your needs. Alternately email us on pieter@guidedog.org.za or noel@guidedog.org.za.
Individuals can also assist by generating their own mini projects and SAGA will certainly assist where applicable. Families can even decide not to buy christmas gifts but rather sponsor a guide dog! This can be applied to weddings and anniversary celebrations too.
Schools, service clubs and church groups can also support us through inhouse fundraising initiatives.
So dont delay please contact us and lets see how we can raise funds to sponsor a guide dog.
