The College has trained in excess of 200 practitioners since inception and return to their communities mainly in rural areas to assist and train blind people in the skills of daily living and mobility using a white cane.
We are asking for a donation towards the training of more practitioners.
*(figures below are for the period 2008/2009) White Coloured, Indian or Black

Service and Social Dogs 10(100%)
O&M Practitioners Trained 52 (100%)
O&M Practitioners (refresher training) 25(100%)
Total 77(100%)
The above 77 practitioners can effectively train on average 24 blind people per annum resulting in 1884 black blind people that will benefit from this professional training on mobility and skills of daily living.
The statistics below reflect the need for qualified trained practitioners nationally. These visually impaired citizens if trained will be in a better position to gain independence and employment thus contribute to the economy of South Africa and will be able to support their families financially and not remain a burden.
